Question of the Day - Saturday, May 24th, 2025

Another time (early 80s), my father in law, called Josie on April Fools day and told her he was a director/producer from MGM. They were making a cowboy and Indian movie and in scouting the area, her property, it was found to be the perfect location. Would she be able to supply coffee & donuts for about 100 cast members? She, with excitement said Yes! Her husband, who was in on the prank, was able to delay her for a couple of days from purchasing supplies. She was bragging about it at Church...then the next day, Monday, our father in law called her and said April Fools.
Most of these were him calling women in the Church, they didn't learn. 😂

My birthday is an April Fools Day joke, so I am very aware of what day it falls on in the year and therefore am instantly on the lookout for pranks on that day, especially ones aimed towards me. I can't say that I have never ever been caught out, but if I have been caught out, they were not by elaborate ones and/or ones worth remembering.

I fall for pretty much all of them (I did get the rotating PFP on BYC though).

Our local Atlanta radio station is my downfall. In 1996 they announced that the crew building Centennial Olympic Park downtown had unearthed dinosaur bones! I thought “I have to drive down there, this is a once of a lifetime experience, my boss will understand!”

So I did… and he did not. He brought it up every April 1st while I worked for him.

I fall for every April Fools prank (except for the ones on BYC), so I can’t say which is the best.

I cannot detect jokes or sarcasm unless it is very obvious, like someone says “what a great day to go swimming” when it’s thunder storming.
I have that problem too.
