Here? No. Electricity is critical for desert dwellers for cooling and for water access. Localized solar (like rooftop) can generate a lot of juice to run the HVAC, but if the pumping stations aren't running, no water is flowing. It would be a struggle daily to find water.

Someplace with a more moderate climate and a water source? Yes. We could survive on basics long enough to build a comfortable permanent shelter.
