Question of the Day - Thursday, October 31st, 2024

Apparently if something battery-operated is making a super irritating, high-pitched electrical noise that your husband can't hear, and one day when he's out you throw it into a refrigerator in a desperate maneuver to muffle the sound before you go raving mad, the cold will kill it. So . . . yes.
High pitched noises really bother me. I had my current NAS make a high pitched noise and I ended up figuring out how to silence it.

Before that it was a switch (thing with ports on front for networking) and it had really loud fans with a high pitched noise. I have replaced the fans. It's amazing how much better I feel without high pitched noises.

Yes. And IT here at work will back me up. The one fellow refers to me as “Oh, YOU”.
As the in house family IT guy, I feel sorry for your IT guy.

Today I made some strict rules with the family computer. NO junk behind the monitor, NO junk where the power strip is, NO plugging into that power strip, NO birds on the monitor. Along with the rule of if any of these rules are in violation, especially the ones in regards to junk, then I will refuse to fix it until it is cleaned. That also includes bird poop (the pet dove my sister has will sit on the monitor...).

How do you define „broken“?! My oldest son almost blew up our house trying to change a cell phone’s battery, there was a gigantic flame, our lamp which had a glass shade was spotted with dots of molten mercury from the energy saving light bulb which also went up in smoke, we were all so lucky nothing worse happened !!! Of course the tablecloth was burnt and the cherry wood table underneath scorched ..

in another case, a tablet almost broke my nose 🤪 I was lying in bed and reading, when it slipped from my fingers and crash landed on my nose with its edge, quite painful and it took almost 10 minutes for me to find out my nose wasn’t broken after all 😅

What kind of phone is that?

Lithium ion batteries are dangerous. I had to replace a phone battery and I think my heart rate went sky high. It was nice and puffy too. I did not want a fire.

I'd have real issues with a child making rules in my house
