What smell, image, or sound triggers nostalgia for you? For me, it's the smell of eucalyptus trees. It reminds visiting my grandparents in Carmel Valley, CA. View attachment 3763954
That eucalyptus is neat!

Lots of things trigger nostalgia.
The hymn tune ST ELIZABETH* always reminds me of a Sunday a few weeks after Christmas some years ago when I was singing in the choir and the morning sun was shining through the stained glass windows...it was beautiful.
Palm trees make me think of Louisiana.
Thunder brings back many days growing up.

*I don't know why hymn tunes are always in all caps, that's just the way we write them :) !

We don't write them all caps here.

Not sure where your mind went but ya take a guess

I have some, I know it, I just can't think of them right now. Sights, sounds and feelings trigger memories for me more than smells, but smells do trigger feeling 'good' for me, just not with a memory a lot.

What on earth is a dichroic filter?

They're color filters used in photo printing. A dichroic enlarger allows you to take a film negative and enlarge/print it into a color print (you can also do black and white and use the same enlarger to emphasize different grey tones for effect). Color process printing (like inkjet printers) has really reduced the uses for dichroic enlargers to specialty print houses these days, but they're still in use.
