I'm a writer, so I need moments like that to develop my stories.

Yes! I started writing fiction as a hobby last year, and I need an empty mind to be productive.

Overstimulation is hellish. On the other hand, I'm so given to daydreaming and story telling in my head that I have never in my life experienced boredom.

I've experienced both. (Am bipolar.) At this stage of my life I much prefer boring. A life of constant activity and adventure is exhausting and, as others have said, can be messy and leave a myriad of projects undone. Boring suits me now, as I can sit in my recliner, look out my window, and say, "Oh look! A mockingbird/ hummingbird/ blue jay/ firefly," etc., and be transported with delight.
