Just thought I would post this video of our little Plymouth Rock hen 'crowing'
She was very timid and at the bottom of the pecking order when we first adopted her, but she is now the senior girl, the rest of the flock are all young pullets, so I am guessing this is what has triggered this.
Sadly she has also stopped laying :(
But her behavior has given us some giggles :)

Wow! That is so cool!

Does she get oyster shell on the side? Just thinking maybe getting older, her bones are using more of the calcium she needs.

We have a very old rooster that partakes in the oyster shell from time to time. They're on an all-flock which is low in calcium so he must need some for his aging bones is all we can figure.

Hmmm interesting, not specifically, she does have a calcium supplement in her feed. I do have some here so I might pop a bowl in there for her. Thanks :)

If she's aging, one possibility might be henopause. Just like humans' menopause, estrogen decreases and sometimes male traits show through. It would also align with egg production stopping. If that's the case, feed her like a rooster (all flock) with optional oyster instead of a layer feed.
