Question of the Day - Wednesday, February 7th, 2024

LOL, my wife's Dad did the same thing with her and her sisters. My sister didn't, Dad would say to her get your brothers to do it.
My daughter is struggling with the tire changes. She's TINY, and breaking the lugs loose requires strength and leverage. She's a gymnast and has the strength, but the leverage part is a challenge.

Wonder if I should get an impact gun for her to stick in the toolbox...

Get a piece of black pipe to slide onto the tire iron as a cheater bar. That will solve the leverage problem.
You probably have one of those junk tire irons that swivel and is used for the scissor jack too? Junk and they're too fat. Buy her a piece of black pipe a good breaker bar and impact socket.

I take it in. I've been shown several times how to check my oil, but never how to do it, nor will I unless I absolutely cannot get it in for a change. Far rather just pay someone else to do it than have to deal with the physical part as well as figuring out what the heck to do with the old oil and mess

Nah metal cross wrench. I should just toss a breaker and a socket in there and call it good.

change a tire but didn't, for some reason, have enough lugnuts to put the new tire on, how do you get home safely?

I do not know how to change oil, but really want to learn
That's a good idea to do. But you want to consult manuals for your car also. Like some Mitsubishi cars a few years ago it could cause damage to the car if the car's oil container area was empty... something about the weight of the engine or something.

There are can be individual tweaks that you want to know for specific car models.

But don't let this scare you. Its good to do it yourself. We're finding at our house more and more when we had a service shop do the oil change we had to check as soon as we brought the car home to make sure that they put oil back in the car. Or quite often they would cheap out and only fill the oil halfway; this especially happens a lot now. There's so many cheaters and liars in this country now that some other 'expert' isn't always going to be better than you doing it yourself now. And they want you handicapped and unable to do things you can do yourself, or know how to do them.
