Question of the Day - Wednesday, February 7th, 2024

I take it in. I've been shown several times how to check my oil, but never how to do it, nor will I unless I absolutely cannot get it in for a change. Far rather just pay someone else to do it than have to deal with the physical part as well as figuring out what the heck to do with the old oil and mess
It's not that bad. I've been covered in oil, gasoline and grease on many occasions. I've seen far too many nightmare situations to have someone else change my oil. I know every mechanic in like 3 counties any would trust maybe 2 to change my oil.

Also, most auto parts stores take old oil for free.

When I was younger, I took my car in to get an oil change. I got it home and noticed the hood wasn't down all the way. The freakin mechanic left his screwdriver right on top of my engine! I was lucky the hood didn't blow open on the way home, it wasn't even latched. Have been changing my own oil since(hubby does it now)

Never trust mechanics. Unless you know personally, and I mean KNOW them.

I'm often in a position of having to. It's the diagnosing that gets me or the part is in such a witch of a spot.
I understand. It's difficult for those who don't have mechanical knowledge. Mechanics tend to take advantage of that. They'll find 300+ other problems you didn't know about and botch whatever they do attempt to fix.
