ok will try to keep this short. I am letting her brood with the rest of the chickens so she is still in main coop etc. She is on day 17 (later today). The past 2 or 3 mornings she has only been getting off at dawn for about 15 min. Well then the coop is still a bit on the darker side when she comes in so she has been going to the wrong box which hasn't really been a problem since I wake up around that time and have a camera in there so first thing I do is wake up peek in and go out and move her if need be. Before this when she got off during the day she would go back to the right box no problems and she stays once I move her so I think it is more that she just can't see as well since it isn't really light in the coop at that hour.
Well tomorrow day 18 is a weekend and most times I am not awake as early as she has been getting up. on weekends it could be 1-2.5 hrs after she is up that I wake up. Should I figure out a way to lock her in tonight until I wake up and then take it down or should I block off the other 2 boxes? My problem with blocking off the other 2 is if one of the other girls need to lay then they only have hers to lay in (which hasn't been an issue but I could make it one by blocking the others). If I block hers what if she has to get up to go to the bathroom? I don't want her going in the box now. I can't really block off her nest and give her space to move around with the way it is set up. I may be able to use the baby gate I have for the chicks since that is moveable for when they are outside but there will be gaps beside it that she may push out of then she can't get back to her nest.........
ideas? and no I don't want to lock her up in there for the next few days and make her move her nest since she has been sitting so good for almost 4 weeks now since she had to wait for shipped eggs to come in.
