Question on Cuckoo Marans

I have two roo's because they are a silvery grey, and 5 pullets because they are charcoal grey/black. Here is the next question. I have read that cuckoo's have white lets, but some of them have all dark legs, and some have white, then some have a mixture of the two colors. So what gives with the leg coloring?

In the begining you mentioned some of your birds not having head spots. Is this the case? Really it does not usually happen that a barred (cuckoo) bird has dark legs. I'm not sure this shows properly at hatch.

Here are a few pics of the cuckoo marans I hatched out yesterday. Note the leg coloring. Also, was trying to figure out if they are male/female by their coloring.

I would wait to see how the leg color develops...

and I would think, yes, your silvery ones are boys and your black ones are girls. Mine were not that clear in their coloring at all, so you're lucky with that.

Do some of the chicks have stripes on their back? Could it be the light in the photo?

They probably have some little flight feathers growing in by now or pretty soon. You will probably be able to see the barring on these.
