Question on Dominques.

I have two 6 week old Dominques. One has a red crest and the other one doesn't. This morning I heard one of the birds make a noise that I have never heard. I am concerned they gave me a Dominque Rooster. Sadly I can't have a rooster because I live so close to other neighbors. How soon does a Rooster start crowing? The store I bought them at is closed for the next week due to expanding so I will certainly take her or him in to see if they mistakenly gave me a rooster. Any advice on how to tell the diffrence between a Rooster and chicken?

third, my roosters were crowing at 3 months on a tuesday. went on craigslist on wednesday, went to new owners coop, dinner table or freezer camp on friday.
