Question on Hawks?

I'd guess at one of the dogs. I've only had one hawk kill--a cooper--and it when for the meaty parts--breast and back first. Dogs have no pattern as far as what, if anything, they would eat. Also they generally are masters of the "Who me? I didn't do nothing!" approach.
