Question on laying -

Do the peahens just suddenly stop all at once from laying? Neither one of mine laid anything yesterday -- they just didn't even seem interested in the boys or their nest. I thought maybe when the time came, they would sort of taper off.

TerriLaChicks,,My peas have strange laying habits and are not bound by any schedule it seems,need to "Unionize" them I guess.Some strange examples of what I've recorded this year is my 3 hens in my Bronze pen,,for 2 nights in a row I gathered 3 eggs,so all hens laid an egg both days,,then I went 2 days without anything from that pen.Then it was 1 egg,then 2 eggs,,per night again. My India blue pen started laying late compared to my other colors,,last week(Thursday) I got 6 eggs,,Friday I got 4 eggs,Saturday 2 eggs,Sunday 1 egg,,Monday and Tuesday of this week was also 1 egg,then 2 eggs and there is 9 hens in the pen.
I think the hens goes thru about 3 phases of egg laying each season,,they take a break for several days then start in laying regular again.I got my first eggs of the year from my Opal B/S pen and both hens was very regular about laying until last week,,I've only gotten 2 eggs from that pen in the past 6 days now.We had some cooler weather come thru here forthe past 5 days and thats when I noticed them slowing down,,but it could be a coincidence too.

I have the same thing going as Terri. It's been 1 1/2 weeks since their last egg.

Thanks for your response -- Wow, definitely no set pattern there! We had t-storms in our area last night, a lot of thunder & lightning, so maybe that put mine off the mood or something...plus it's really gotten hot & humid this week. Will be interesting to see what happens.....

I know this sounds weird, but I work at a sandwhich/bread place and the bread ends were thrown away and i asked if i could take them home to give my peacocks becausei thought it would fatten them up and be a good treat. well i have found that wheat/ wheat germ oil can stimulate breeding or egg laying...

It is turning out to be a weird year here in the south. No cold weather has my birds totally out of their normal patterns. Usually mine cycle like clockwork. Not this year. I already have one Spaulding peacock that is 2/3 done dropping his train.
