Question on mypetchicken order

I've ordered from MPC two years running now. Last year, chicks shipped on Monday and I got them on Wednesday. This year, shipped on Monday, got them Tuesday. Both years all alive and healthy. Yes, they come in a small box, but they need to be a bit crowded to keep each other warm. My PO is very good about calling as soon as they get the box. I would not worry unless you haven't heard by late Thursday. I hope you get the news tomorrow AM that you have a box of chicks just waiting for you!!

Mine were shipped on Monday afternoon. I called mpc on Monday to see what time they would ship. They ship chicks in the morning and late afternoon.

All 9 arrived happy and healthy at noon on Tuesday. I live in Maine. I was a pain to the post office too calling them and visiting them at the time the express truck was due. They had a heating pad and all were still warm when they arrived.

Don't worry!! I read about all of these horror stories of dead chicks and i was so worried! and mine are 2 weeks and doing great!

I ordered my peeps from mypetchicken too. My peeps got on a plane at 9:30pm yesterday in Cleveland, OH and arrived at BWI (Baltimore, MD) this morning at 7:41am and in their new home at 3:30pm. The didn't have a gel pack in their box, but did have a warmer. I called my post office this morning to see if the peeps had come yet because I had to take my Mom to a Dr's appt today at 1:00pm. They told me they weren't on the truck this morning and would prob b here tomorrow. JUST as I was walking into the Dr's appt with my mom, the post office called and said that another mail truck had come in at lunch (which occassionally happens) and the chicks were here! I live in a small area too, but they said they had the box close to the heater and would take care of them til I was able to get there! All 15 babies are wonderful! They r eating, drinking, pooping, running around, chirping, falling over sleeping...they r very healthy and happy! But, they r tired and don't want flash bulbs flashing in their eyes tonight so pics will have to wait. I know it's really hard, but as far as I know they do ship from Ohio and if u r in CA, it might take an extra day. I would call them tomorrow if no peeps. Good Luck and keep us posted! I hope u have as good of an experience as I have so far!

We ordered from MPC this year. Our chicks arrived on Wednesday and we live only one state away. I was a bit concerned when they didn't arrive on Tuesday. They were all alive when I picked them up early Wed. morning. We had to nurse one back to health but all survived and we are over two weeks in.

It is 7am west coast time and they are here!!!!!!!!!!

.A little cold but all alive (for now.) I am concerned about the seabright. Yes, I ordered a marshmallow chicken. It looks a little weak. Express overnight got my chickens as far as San Francisco. They had to be trucked from San Francisco to Sacramento. Dang... I use to live next to the airport too! They did include a heat pack (thank God because they would be dead w/o it.) The box sixe was a good size, not like what I mentioned in the previous post.

They are cold, so I have cranked up the heat in the brooder. I will post pictures soon. Thanks everyone, I was really sweatin' it yesterday night. If it weren't for everyones input I might have gone stark ravin' crazy! It was good to know that some people got their chicks on Wed. It made me feel a little better. For now, they are all trying to sleep standing up and they are a little bit wobbly. They look like me when I am in line at the grocery store w/o enough sleep. They keep nodding off!

Finally, yes that is a giraffe! I do have a chicken named ginormous. She is about as big as a seabright. I don't have a good picture of her, so the giraffe will have to do. Do you like it? I took is at Six Flags, it was mugging for the camera!

To Sherriff's Wife - I agree - I was so looking forward to my babies -I did months of research and chose the breeds very carefully - I felt that I did everything right, then to have them keep dying - VERY discouraging and disheartening. I was ready to scrap the whole chicken thing - I was down to 14 of the original 21 I ordered. So my dear hubby suggested we visit TSC and get some replacements - we got 3 white pullets - which I believe are Tetra Tints - GREAT little chickies - very friendly, and 3 mixed red pullets - not sure what they are ?maybe NH red - they are also not as sweet, but quite curious and bold. My others which i chose for friendliness and ease of handling are wimpy by comparison - but as they approach 4 wks old, they are becoming more outgoing. But I lost both of the silver laced Wyandottes I ordered - was really looking forward to them. Not sure I'd do the mail order thing again - or if I do, I'll order them for warmer weather delivery.

Glad your chicks arrived.

I just now saw this post. I got mine on a Wednesday from MPC. I ordered 6. Everyone was good except on little EE. I was very worried about her. But I kept tossing hard boiled egg yolk in in small pieces and she just came alive and goggled them up with the rest. She survived and is doing well. They will be 6 weeks old on Monday. It just takes one day more for us to get them because of the distance. They are shipped from Meyer's, they are in Ohio. Post photos when you can!

So glad they came today!

After a year or so of debate, I'm a first time chicken Mom (4 kids and 6 grand kids, and these chicks still make me SO nervous!). I canceled a mail-order with Stromberg's because they couldn't ship until late May (several different breeds decided upon after much research and waffling) ... and headed off to TSC, where I got a little carried away. I got 12 (should have gotten 6 :)) commercial red pullets (from pictures I'm thinking RIR or NHR) and 6 Speckled Sussex straight runs. We lost one red the 2nd day and still have 17 chicks going strong. One Sussex and 2 reds are showing a larger comb than the others, but I'm still guessing how many roosters are in the bunch. Any roosters will be re-homed.

But alas, I find myself missing the Black Australorps in the original order (my most fave sister-in-law lives in Australia and I miss her like mad) ... so I ordered 6 pullets from Meyers (they were cheaper than MPC) for shipment on April 25th (my Mom's birthday). They will be just over a month apart in age from the others, but I figure I can work it out with separation and such. Now I'm a little concerned over the mail-order aspect (we only had a 5 minute trip home from TSC, on my lap with excessive coo-ing) -- but at least it will be warm weather, and hopefully not sweltering between Ohio and North Georgia.

I'll post this separately too ... but to anyone reading in my area, I'd like to find a good free home for 4 of my (supposedly pullet) reds (3 weeks old this coming Friday) ... I really don't need 23 chickens for 4 people, one of whom (the teenager) doesn't eat eggs. We're located in Banks County, Georgia, very close to the outlet malls and Atlanta Dragway. Greenville, SC is about an hour away.
