Question on Schools....update

I have done this before.... Write a letter to the OpEd section of your local paper. If someone in that department has also had issues with the school, it WILL get in.

People have a difficult time admitting when they have made a mistake. School officials are people. I am a teacher and I deal with their egos on a daily basis. Perhaps the superintendent can set them straight. Good luck.

Its hard to know if I am right and how much to push this issue. It irks me a lot, but if I am being unreasonable or seeming like one of those 'my kids do no wrong' type of parents, thats not me.

My daughter just informed me that the vice principal called her down to his office and told her he would reduce her time...but as she was she was getting ready to go, he told her that she shouldn't mention that she got her time reduced to the other two girls, or they will be wanting their time reduced too. The other two girls basically skipped their classes, my daughter didn't. Seems wrong to me that he basically told her to lie to her friends! Ugh!

reading your post makes me appreciate my school even more! I'm sorry for what your daughter has to go through. It is very unfair. Living in a small town, we are fortunate to have what I call 'peace makers' Our school staff are willing to work with the students and parents to make right (most of the time).

lemme tell ya how it works. most of the time the vp or p do not care! they punish first and ask questions later when parents complain! i have had things like that happen to myself. schools are too quick to assume things and give group punishments.they wanna get it out of the way and forget about it. to the upper staff were trouble makers even when we are perfect angels at school. i have fallen victim to these types of overly assumptious punishments my self (note this is not an attack at any teachers just a point being made about the general happenings. this is not always true. just very common.)
