Hello all,
I have a question about the lace gene. I know that if you breen a golden laced rooster with a silver laced hen you will have sexlinked chicks. I bought a roo for my 3 golden ladies who's mom was a silver and dad was a golden. When they start laying fertile eggs will they be all golden or since his mother was a silver could there be silver chicks?!?!

Gold is recessive, so in this case the chick color is entirely dependent on the color of roo. If he is silver, you will get at least some silver chicks (male and female), depending if he carries a copy of gold.

If the roo is gold, all the chicks will be gold, no possibility of silver.

Since your rooster’s sire is golden laced and dame is Silver laced his genetically heterozygous Silver(S/s+) but carries a recessive gold gene, that means that 50% of the cross pullets will be Silver laced and 50% golden laced.
50% of the cross cockerels will be 100% Silver(S/S) laced and 50% will be Heterozygous Silver laced(S/s+).
