Hi everyone, I don't know how to make a general thread post, but I need help.
I have 5 young but fully grown pet ducks who are happy and healthy, with a pool to swim in, and plenty of food and water, and a nice big coop. But somehow they seem have mites; all of them. Not sure what kind of mites they are, but swimming doesn't get rid of them. They appear to just be on the neck and head. I attached a picture as well. Any ideas on what to do? We bought diatamatious earth we are gonna use, heard that's a good thing. But any other thoughts?
Thank you

DE does not get rid of lice and or mites.

I am not familiar with ducks so I do not know if permethrin is safe for them, I would guess that it is.
A permethrin based spray will get rid of them.
Google Gordon's Permethrin

Looks like your ducks have poultry lice. Treatment is permethrin spray or dust, or you could try ivermectin.

Now I'm all itchy itchy scratchy scratchy.......

Hi ya'll!
I found lice on my ducks yesterday and I'm going to pick up some ivermectin drench. Do I need to dilute it before putting it under their wings?
Also I have Permethrin.. Should I spray that around their coop?
Thank you!!

I've used ivermectin pour on on my chickens. No diluting. Not sure about the drench.
You should clean all bedding out and spray coop with permethrin. I believe you can use the permethrin on the ducks too - but, I would use one or the other not both on them directly.
