If I sterilize a wooden box using a little bleach and vinager and water will the fumes or smell bother chicks I have in the same room. they are far enough apart that none would get on or near the birds, and the box only has one entry that I can cover so that it evaporates more inside the box. Or should I remove all the birds from inside the room. I ask because it will be somewhat of a hassle to move all 6 brooders into another part of the house. I can open a window to let fresh air as well.

Sounds like a question for the vet but I imagine if it doesn't kill you, it shouldn't kill them, just mix a bucket with no more than 1/2 or 1 Cup bleach and the rest water. You should not use straight bleach. It is bad for you and could be bad for chicks you put in there later even when it's dry.
