Question?

What kind of treats do you suggest? I have been giving them flock party quack snacks but the yellow ducks are the only ones that eat those. I keep them in a bag and put them in my hand to give them to them so they known it’s me but i feel like that scares them.

My yellow ducks seem to be the only ones adjusting to me and the brown ones are so scared they run. I need some helpful tips on how you got your ducks to come around and want to be lovey😭
I have tried several flock party things and they haven’t really like any of them except meal worms. They absolutely love the meal worms! I also will give them garden/kitchen scrap veggies and they love that too.

I agree with everyone else’s advice on not forcing them and going on their level. It does take time, they gotta learn you aren’t scary. I still have one duck that’s 9 months old that does not like me and he might never and that’s fine, I still try with him but never force. All my other ducks will come and eat treats out of my hand. As soon as they hear my door open they come running hoping for treats. I’m telling ya treats are the way! Just be sure you aren’t giving them too many.

I am unsure of how old they are, i got them at TSC on February 25th so I don't know when they were born. My brown ducks there are very scared of me and they wont leave each other side
Usually when you get them from tractor supply they are only days old, unless you get them at a discounted price then they’re usually a little older. I would use February 25th as a “birthdate” and go off that to keep track of age.

okay thank you! last question, at what age would you say your ducks finally started coming to you willingly or become more okay with you being near them?

I feel like when they’re still in the brooder they warm up after a couple days. Then when they go outside it’s kind of like starting over again, they’ll avoid me for a couple weeks and then remember “oh yea that crazy lady’s got the treats!”

Ducks aren’t like dogs or cats. They aren’t gonna come over and jump and lick you when you get home from work. I’ve seen some ducks on here that are super cuddly and lovey but I would say that’s not the norm. Realistically they may come when called (for treats), eat out of your hand, follow you around a bit and lay down NEAR you.

I also want to mention that our ducks seem to like my kids wayyyyyy more than me or my husband. They like to sit by my kids (8 & 9) and let them hold them but if me or my husband does that they aren’t as willing. I don’t know if it’s a size thing or maybe they’re soft voice. Not sure! But just thought it was worth mentioning. But again they aren’t coming up to my kids and snuggling. We also spend ALOT of time outside in our yard where they free range which I think helps!
