Just got 9 new hens, one year olds. 5 Road Island Reds and 4 golden sexlinks. Trying to mix with 10 banty and one banty rooster. The rooster is fighting mad and because he is little he is being out done and bloodied. Had to seperate the two groups with chicken wire and also seperated in the coop by chicken wire. This is the second day now. I will continue this for a couple weeks. Hopefully the rooster will stop fighting the bigger new hens. ANY SUGGESTIONS? Mike

It sounds like you are doing it right. They are just establishing pecking order. All I have are banty roosters and all but 2 of my hens are standard. Everyone gets along fine unless my one rooster,Shadow, who thinks he is a stud gets a little to frisky at the wrong time, then he gets chased off. Good luck.
