I have baby Pekin Ducklings. When they get larger, is it safe to put the males in with my Nigerian Dwarf Buck goat bucks? Is it sanitary? Will the goats hurt the male ducks? Will my bucks get any kind of disease from the Ducks? I'm not speaking of does... just bucks and maybe a concern for the ducks during rutt?

Thank you (new to this)

Welcome to BYC!

I'm not a goat person (only ever had one goat), but I wouldn't risk putting them in a pen together for fear that the goats would injure the ducks with their heads, horns or hooves.

I'm a registered nigerian dwarf breeder, just never have had ducks :-) I could put them with my does and I know nothing would happen...I disbud my girls.

How many ducks? How large an area? Will you worry about your goats drinking water filled with poop and mud? I love my ducks, but they really do mess up everything, lol.

goats won't drink water that isn't clean they have they own buckets :-) I have 8 ducklings...when sexed girls will be separated. The drakes will have a 20x10 area if w/the bucks...

Goats can have copper, right? I know sheep can't, so you would never want to keep sheep with poultry because poultry feed has copper in it and sheep are very susceptible to copper toxicity.

Heck, try it and figure out another solution if it looks like it's not working. My one wether was 120 pounds, had horns and new how to use them, so putting him in with anything, including a 1400 pound horse, would have been a bad idea.

my bucks are nigerian dwarf no way 120 pounds LOL The feed would be where the bucks can't get to it. My only concern is when they are in rutt, if the ducks are in harms way.
