Questions about Angel wing

I was worried about angel wing as well with my duckling. I had kept it outside and started giving it oatmeal. He was eating enormous amounts of slugs and insects, so I almost completely removed the chick starter feed. I have been adding a lot of yeast to the oatmeal to make sure there's no way it could develop niacin deficiency.

He is now grown up drake, larger than the ones I've bought, has no angel wing and didn't get into any kind of deficiency. He now eats a lot less (except if it's more effective when he searches for the food in the grass) than my other ducks, except for the corn - he loves it and if I drop kernels on the floor, he manages eating the majority. He only eats chick finisher pellets when really hungry. Other ducks and the fat drake I also have will eat almost as much as they will get.

None of them developed angel wing.

I would start replacing part of the feed you are giving them with oatmeal. You can give them 25% of oats into their feed (3:1 ratio) and check if they develop OK. If they start showing the wing issue, you can try increasing the oatmeal ratio. Give them some niacin or yeast, greens and insects. They will love it.

Thank you so much! Angel wing is only a risk when the wing feathers are growing, correct?
