wow - I an new to chickens too and can only hope that I can do as well a job like this should I ever need to .......don't know how you got your chicken to stay still for the soaking while you took her photo - I am totally impressed - congratulations to you both !

She sat for 20 minutes before she got restless, I imagine it felt pretty good since her foot was so swollen. It was really clean for me and I draped a towel around her while I focused on her foot. I did not like the fact that I was causing her pain but hopefully saving her life in the long run. We will see.

Your right, the bandaging will cause her to limp abit. Once you remove the tape, let her go and if she continues to limp a couple days after...you might have to go in and dig around some more...but try soaking her foot in warm saline solution for a longer period of time first before going in. It'll help draw the infection out.
