Questions about Lavender Wyandotte’s

I’m new to breeding lavender Wyandotte’s, I just purchased hatching eggs from a breeder and I heard that lavender color chickens feathers aren’t very good quality or they fray at the ends of the feathers, especially on the tails and that I could breed them back to black split Wyandotte’s that carry the lavender gene to improve feather quality of their offspring, is this true? How exactly does it work?

I believe that if bred to black/split birds roughly half the chicks will be lavender and half will be black split.

Thanks, do you know if the lavender offspring that are from the lavender and black split parents will have improved feather quality?
