I often wondered about this. Winter is coming. So the day light hours are getting shorter. I have noticed a drop in my egg count. Now everyone tells me to put a light on in the barn on a timer. Well i think if you do that it pushes the hens to produce more eggs. Would that wear them out so to speak?. Then just leave nature take it course. What do you guys recommened. ?

You're right, it just wears them out faster. I prefer to just let mother nature dictate how they lay so I don't use lights on mine. I think they deserve their yearly vacation.
