Questions about roo posturing?

ChickenDuck has started something new, and I'm not sure what to think of it.

When I call him, he runs over to me, then when he's about 5 feet away, he stands up super tall, turns sidewides, lowers and fans that wing (so its dragging on the ground almost and fully fanned) and then runs the remainder of the way to me in this position quite quickly. Is this what is referred to as posturing? And if it is, what is he telling me when he does it to me?

He's never violent, and takes on a more 'normal' stance once he's at my side, never tried to kick or spur me (not his MAMA!) or bite me....so that leads me to believe that this is a non-violent type of display to show me what a big boy he is?! Am I right? Or is it some form of pre-mating display that I should discourage? I've also noticed him do this "dance" towards a few of the pullets....

this is usually the posture you will see a roo do to a hen, just before he ummm...does the deed. He is just probbly showing off for you. sounds like he realy likes his momma!

I was afraid of that...silly ChickenDuck! Well, I guess I should feel SPECIAL! lol He only does this to me, and a select few of the pullets! lol Man, I had such a good laugh over this I'm still wiping the tears from my face! lol

We have two random barred rock roos we keep around the farm for eventual breeding. It's hilarious to watch them try to mate our goats. They'll go through turning sideways, shuffling the feet, doing the dance, then jumping up on the back of the goats.

One started fussing with the geese as well when they were only about 4 weeks old. Here we are two weeks later and the geese are probably twice as big as him now, so that's been put to a stop.
