Questions for Setter4 - Cremation - You MUST be respectful!!!

Thank you, setter4 for being so open and giving of your time.

Thank you, moderators, for letting this dissemination of information take place. It is a hard subject and this venue may be easier for some.

For some of the answers to some of the questions posted here, I recommend the book "Grave Matters". It describes multiple ways of disposing of human remains including what to do with ashes (scattering, incorporating into an artificial reef), locations of natural cemeteries, and home funerals.

setter4 - have you read this? Has it affected how you operate your business?

I've been following this since post one and thank you! I always teased DBF that I would have him cremated so he could always be with me. I told him he doesn't listen to me now, so I can talk to him all I want and it'll be like normal! I was teasing but not really.

I definitely do NOT want to be buried underground where it's cold and there are bugs. I would like to have our ashes scattered where there are lots of flowers because we both love to garden.

Thank you for allowing this thread -

My Grandparents (who live 2 houses away) have a family cemetery. No one ever goes to "visit" the graves, but everyone wanted my uncle to be buried there... Made no sense.

Have you ever heard/seen any really bad arguments about cremating a loved one?

I haven't read that posts, but I did work for a Memorial park for a while. I was wondering why some peoples ashes come back a very light and pretty pink, and some people are Grey, black or brown. Is it race related? I wouldn't think so since we are all the same inside. Just curious.

Fortunately for us most of the "battles" go on at the funeral home not here at the crematory.
I do know that when we decided to have my Dad cremated, which was what he wanted, some of my great Aunts were NOT HAPPY with us. They got over it.

The difference in color of cremations can result fromwhat was cremated with the body. Some bodies come from a hospital or nursing home with all the bedding etc. and that can cause a difference in color. Also the temperature that a body is cremated at can affect the color and the temperature can be affected by the size and weight of the person.

Thank you. I just found this very informative thread. My husband and I both plan to be cremated and our children also state they do (though they are still quite young and who knows). I see burial as a waste of land space, expensive, just lots of different reasons I don't see it as an option for myself. I am glad so many others agree. Again, thank you. This is all very helpful information.
