I have a wire pen for dogs called a Puppy Play Pen. I used it for my first Ps I hatched. We got the small holed wire hardware cloth, and put it on the adjustable pen floor. But later added it to the sides. Put plastic under and around it. Adjusted a brooder light, and it was perfect. It was so much fun having them in the house with me. Sadly there comes a time that P chicks have to go outside. They were good therapy for me. I had been badly hurt in an accident at work.( and to make it worse it was another persons fault that I got hurt), it was 5 surgeries & what seemed like never ending physical therapy, and the P eggs were my self prescribed PT. In another post I described how I hand turned them,( I did it that way to exercise my hands and fingers)

if I candle my peacock eggs after how many days should I see something?

I have a lady at work who gives me her peacock eggs because she knows we have an incubator (this is our first time hatching)
they usually eat the eggs but shes up for letting us try to hatch them. I turn them 3 x a day and ,y heat is at 99.-100 and I have water in the water wells.

am I doing everything ok?
any suggestions?

HI, Maintain humidity at 40-45% for the first 25 days and 60-65% for the last 3 days by adding more water to increase the surface area of evaporation . Measure the humidity with a hygrometer/ thermometer- Sold online at amazon- name is Calliber 111 ) Not just adding water. to the wells.Humidity plays a very imp. role for successful hatching. Every thing else you are doing is correct. By candling, You should be able to see some red veins growing inside the egg after 7 days. Good luck.

How does everyone maintain a humidity of over 45 in their incubators? How often do you have to add water when the humidity drops below that number? I'm using sponges and other "unmentionables" and the humidity drops every 3 days and then I have to add more water? Is this the normal rate at adding more water? Anyone know?

I had a pip when I left for work this morning!!!!!! 1st. one of the season.
My turner is set to move constantly and I am laying them on their sides, both things are new ways for me this year. Hatch day is scheduled for tomorrow so I only have 2 hens laying so my eggs have been put in about every 3 days. Last year I had very little luck hatching but this year is starting out MUCH better.
