I don't know their shipping shcedules. We set ours up the year before, based on how they worked during the summer. After using them for six years, we now can time the relase so we have almost no flies during the summer. No BS. The resturants in town have more flies than we do. They really work for us. Call the people you are planning to order from and ask the ship times they have available. They usually have extras available early in the season, to make available for new customers. They come unhatched. Hatch time after you get them depends on the temperature they are kept, after you get them. Cold months they may sit around for a couple of weeks, before they are ready to be released. When it's 100*, they may be ready when you get them out of the mail box.

Sorry to hear that. Last year they were shipping me double what I ordered for the first few months, because they had an over production. Maybe try another supplier? Good luck to you.

I would do a search for alternate suppliers too... I've ordered from Arbico for the past few years and they recently reduced their prices so I ordered more...

have to tell predator fly story. Sister in law's parents came to visit ranch and accepted ups package. Next thing they knew there were flies everywhere, so they started killing them. Yup, the same flies in laws paid good money for.

Are you sure? I just ordered some from Spalding Labs (on Friday) and mine shipped yesterday. If so, that's a bummer.

I'm set up on a schedule. Maybe they are meeting standing orders first, then new ones? But that still sounds odd. May be worth a call to them, to see if they can expedite it.

Day 4 and still the flies are winning!!!!

I finally recvd my fly predators and put them out right away since we had a 85 degree day...and I am still seeing alot of flies. My roomy even thinks that that the flies are fighting back, by biting her ankles. lol

I must admit that throughout the day, the total nuisance seems to have diminished; but, it has been 95 degrees outside and I have been in the house alot.

Should I continue to be patient or order more right away?

I use the non-poison methods as well.

I was ordering the fly eating (gnat-size) wasps from Biocontrol Network (http://www.biconet.com/flies/FC3.html) but found them less expensive from:

http://www.arbico-organics.com/organic-pest-control-fly-control.html (this site even has a video to watch about them)

You need to release them at dusk or early in the morning when it is cool. Make sure that nothing is eating them (birds & ants) before they have a chance to all hatch. I have seen them being eaten. Don't put them where your chickens can get to them because they will eat the pupae. Also, it takes the wasps a little time to build up a population (a couple of shipments). I have used them for a couple of years and they do work well. Arbico ships me a batch every 3 weeks until November. With the wasps, I have used the fly eating nematodes as well (from Biocontrol) but this year, I am going to rely on the wasps.

I have 1 solar fly trap as well. I put fly bait in the bowl at the base and the flies get trapped & the sun kills them.
