I have built my own incubator, and im wondering if what ive done will interfere with the incubation.

instead of using a light for heat, Ive ligned floor and side walls with a waterbed heater.

my heat is locked between 98.9 and 100.3, been there for 6 hours and only hits 101 if I leave the viewing light on to long.

my humidity level is at 50 percent ,

is this a bad heat source or a good one?????

thanks

Where are your eggs setting... Are they up on something or on the heater???

they will be sitting in a turnable tray dead center of the inclosure, where i have my sensor at right now. (installing shelf in the morning)

It sounds good to me, but I am new at this and have never built an incubator. Hopefully someone with some more knowledge will give you an answer. Good Luck.

thanks, Im a newby too. im sitting here watching the monitor, like it was a newborn and there aint even eggs in it yet:^}

steady holding 99.8, and 50%

Should work. I do wonder how hot the internals of the heater is getting though. The water in a the bed pulls heat away from the pad much quicker than the air in the incubator will.

thats where my question is, its nothing more than a set of heat strips. and im thinking that with the air movement, and moisture present, if ittll work over time or melt down...
