Hi. As I already posted we are fighting a nasty, prolonged mite infestation and are about to deep clean the coop, run and the girls.
We are using a diluted permethrin 10% spray.
Do we need to withdraw the eggs and if so, for how long?
thx for the feedback.

crap....no instructions, jsut a label. I bought Martin's Permethrin 10% which was recommended by someone in my previous posting about my infestation......

Hi, welcome to BYC! :frow

It is my understanding that when used according to directions there is NO need to withdraw eggs... and I have NEVER done so or experienced any NOTICEABLE ill side effects.

Please be aware that mites can develop resistance to the permethrin so if your battle goes on for too long, you might consider adding something else to your arsenal.

I just googled the Martins, and there are directions for poultry and poultry housing. You'll have to look it up, although there should be labeling in the package and on the bottle (folded under the main label?). Mary

thank you Mary, I found it.

We drench the vent area when spraying the birds down. Though there is no need for any withdrawal it's apparent some residue is getting on the eggs until the birds dry. We feed the eggs laid day of application back to the birds. Bash em up shells and all, they love 'em. If you want to pour onto ground add some feed or scratch to stiffen the mix.
