It would be pretty dang close to fine. Better than fully related siblings
I've bred full siblings without much issue, you just don't want to breed their offspring for too long, otherwise you can run into fertility issues, & probably some deformities.

About how many generations do you think would be completely safe
Probably no more then 2, 3 at most.

But breeding father to daughter, or mother to son is fine for quite awhile. This also includes breeding back to grandparents also. But you can go longer in both cases.

This will be interesting to watch. I don't breed or hatch (yet), and I find the technical discussions of genetics impossible to follow. I just want to SEE outcomes. I know this will be ling term but do hope to follow.
Ok great! I'm waiting until spring so I can brood outside, my coop has electricity but it's still probably better to wait, I'm also hoping to have a bigger incubator so I can do more than 8 eggs at a time, i have my eyes on one at my feed store so maybe

The Jasper to Opal pairing isnt the only one I am doing this spring/summer. These are all the chickens involved in this, I'll tell you the exact pairings once I pull up the list on my computer

pics 1 and 2- Jasper- EE mix
Pic 3- Jaspers mom (not in the pairings but you guys wanted to see her)
Pic 4- Opals mom(not in the pairings)
Pic 5 6 and 7- Opal
Pic 8- Fawn- I dont know what breed she is but shes pretty and made pretty babies before
Pic 9- Romeo- pure bred SLW
Pic 10- Juliet- pure bred SLW
Pic 11- pearl- light Brahma
Pic 12- Smore- Fawnx Romeos baby
Pic 13- Onyx and Marshmallow(not mine but my moms, she wants to be a part of this)- Onyx is Part Jersy Giant and something and Marshmallow is Sapphire Splash X SLW
Pic 14- Silver- I dont know what breed he is but the person who gave him to us said he was an EE so maybe hes part EE and Barred rock but I'm not 100% sure.

So the exact pairings so far. There are 2 of them with 8 eggs each so a total of 16 eggs unless I get a bigger incubator and space before spring.

Batch one

Jasper X Onyx - 2 eggs
Silver X Marshmallow - 2 eggs
Jasper X Pearl - 2 eggs
Jasper X Opal - 2 eggs

Batch 2

Romeo X Juliet - 4 eggs
Jasper X Fawn - 2 eggs
Jasper X Smore - 2 eggs

Ok so slight change of plans, my mother cant find silver anywhere and her hens were hiding and super scared and shes been seeing hawks lately and we fear the worst for silver, we haven't lost hope yet but my mom wants me to incubate some of his eggs now so he can still live on in some chicks, even if we can find him. So starting tommarow or the day after, I'm going to be incubating Silver x Marshmallow and Silver x Onyx eggs

It's been 24 hours since the eggs have been in the incubator so hatch day is the 22nd and today is day one
