Quick question??

Quote:
They have other chickens?? Please remember that when integrating a new bird, that bird must be isolated for 30 days for biosecurity hazards. If he is going to be visible to the other chickens he will be ok. But to protect their current flock he needs to be far enough away from them for 30 days not to introduce and viruses or illnesses. Not to say he isn't healthy, but he may carry something that a new climate would bring forth, or not yet known.

I too am going to have to thin my flock coming up and I am NOT happy about screening homes for them.

I've heard of/seen 7-8 week old birds making it through shipping, It isn't too bad as long as they are good feathered so they aren't cold.. If you are worried about feed and water, put some fruit in with him and it should tie him over at least for the couple hours (or day). You could also feed him right before going in the box, and that will help as well. But this is just from experience, I've never gotten all "Scientific" on it.
