Ok......I should be introducing myself and all. I used to come on here YEARS ago when I first got into chickens.
Getting ready to run to town.......have some eggs in the incubator, hatching now.
Regular styrofoam incubator, basic one.

We had one hatch yesterday, perfectly normally little chick.
2nd one pipped yesterday, it just came out of the egg. Just before it had kind of rolled over and the liquid all poured out of the egg into the water area of the incubator. He still has the yolk or sac or something attached to him. He's much more wet than any chicks I've had hatch out before. I am leaving him alone unless instructed to do something else.........
I'll be back in awhile and will reintro myself as to me this is rude, basically new and jump in and ask questions.

I'm Sandy from Missouri!

welcome lets hope some one will tell you something. as im new at haching too!

I will try to get a picture to add when I get back. I noticed the post under mine, the one picture has a big round sac where someone is asking very similar question. The one attached to this chick isn't.....its smaller, very irregular shaped. But.........like I said before, at one point the egg tipped over and yellow liquid ran out of the egg and into the water tank area.........haven't had that happen before, not that much anyways......

This is my 5th year of hatching.......none like this. I know to leave them alone, but always wanting to help..........LOL

Going to try and post some pics. Definitely weaker than other chicks by this point. I am not getting my hopes up on this little guy.

In the above one, you can see where its still attached to the egg - this is a couple of hours after hatch.

This little guy is crawling over the place. He has gotten stuff all over the incubator, the eggs. Luckily still more hatching. Like I said, first little guy is doing great, he's in the brooder eating and drinking, just waiting on some company

I did not have anything that big attached, but any that had 'attachements' I left in the incubator until it was gone. I knew I was not going to pull it or try and get it off. Eventually it detached and I moved the chick.

Not a whole lot that you can do. Leave it in there. Usually Attached ones detach given time. Sometimes they just don't make it.

Thanks. I figured that, but wanted to make sure. I've hatched a lot out, but never seen anything like this.
That one is Game bird, got several silkies in there I am hoping will hatch out. Have another barred rock crossed with heinz 57 getting ready to come out. I just love hatching eggs.
I learned everything from this board, but way back.......different type forum now, but I guess......maybe 2002 or 2003........
Sandy
