I think the original Japanese version of The Ring, called Ringu, was much scarier. Silent Hill was pretty scary. Very dark, very gruesome, very emotional.

When I was 15 years old, I went to the movies with a friend of mine and we saw, "When A Stranger Calls", the original with Carol Kane. Never saw any of the blood or the murder scene, but that was one of the scariest movies I've ever seen in my life. Uber, uber frightening. And I agree with other posters... a truly scary movie involves what you CAN'T see and what you don't know is there.

I can't remember the name. It was so scary, I tried to erase it from my memory. What is the name of the movie about those college students who were filming in the woods? They walked around with laterns, got lost in the woods and some of them came up missing one by one. And at the end of the movie, one ofthem was standing in the corner. Well whatever the name of it is, that is the scariest movie that I have ever seen. I couldn't sleep for days.

When I was about 12 I watched 2 movies within a day or two..
American werewolf in London, and The Howling...
For my age to have seen those.. WOW... I had nightmares!!
But it got me started in my writing.

Its about lumber pollution with dumping mercury in the water and out of that pollution comes this 15 foot tall mutated bear.Running at you at full speed to kill you.
Its not about some slasher dude walking behind you that you can outrun with a good brisk pace
Its not godzilla which one person is insignificant compared to the buildings he wants to destroy.

Its a 15 foot tall contaminated,running at you at full bear speed on its back legs mind you,to kill you.How can you escape somthing that can smell you hiding,that one swat of its paw and you die,that you cannot outrun.I dont know about you but I cannot outrun a bear.
