Quiet and affectionate geese

I like my Sebastopols... Very Nice and good with my kids so far... And of coarse pretty to look at with their curly feathers!!! I love frizzled things so when I saw this breed I had to have them.

Well I'm a newbie with one week old african gosling, but he is so sweet and adorable. And his favorite place is nuzzled between a neck and a sofa. Can't wait to get his buddies home! There going to be sebbies so we'll see if they are the same. As long as hatching goes well that is!

I just got Cotton Patch. At the ranch that I got my babies from, I was able to meet several adult Cotton Patch geese. They were the gentlest and friendliest geese I have ever met. They are also small geese, similar in size to the Romans, maybe a bit smaller.

"Quiet" and "geese" in the same line made me laugh.

Both of my neighbors are a good distance off, but they both report hearing my geese.

Thankfully they like my poultry -- from a distance.

I have 4 grown Embdens in my yard, and man can they make a fuss. The boys are especially loud now during breeding season. They hiss too. Got to sell off a pair and keep the pair I raised from gosling stage. My goose is affectionate and will let me rub her back or pick her up. The gander is more standoffish and has even challenged me lately. Will grab my pant leg and shake to get me to leave the yard.

I have one Sebbie gosling in my garage that is waiting to be picked up. He is lonely, though he can see the ducklings from his pen. Man can that little guy squawk. But he is so big that he'd smash my ducklings. Cute as a puppy, though. His parent flock is pretty loud and not friendly.

I'm brooding a pair of Polmeranian from Ideal. They are doing well so far at responding to my voice, but I need more time to train them to follow me like I did the Embdens. So, for a pet, raise them up from goslings.

So you had to train them to follow you or do they just do that??? Mine follow me everywhere, they always have, it is adorable. Tomorrow my husband is going to take a pic of me, my 5 yr. old son and my goslings heading to the tank (pond) for you yanks... jennifer

Also, I'm wondering if my girl Roman is not a roman at all... she has no tuft and her feathers are coming in grayish. Does anybody know if Romans can be grey (sp)?

Your goslings imprint on you and think you are momma and that is why they follow you around. All baby goslings do this. They will do it less as they get older and get more into a flock state of mind... Post a pic of your Roman and I'm sure someone will be able to tell you exactly what she is... Good luck...​

Jordan family, someone told me on this site that if I had 2 goslings they could not have imprinted on me?.... that they would have on each other. So do you think they are imprinted if they follow me? Cool... jennifer

OK, so here are my 2, 3 week old supposedly Roman's. The male is tufted and his feathers are coming in white. But the female is not tufted (unless it will come in later) and her feathers are coming in gray or brownish. This picture may not be good enough but what does anyone think? The were ordered from Ideal and supposed to be tufted romans... jennifer

I had a pair of toulouse geese, embdens, and pilgrims. All 3 breeds were very nice. The toulouse were the friendliest. They would eat out your hand, were never aggressive, and were excellent parents

I raised all of my geese from day olds, and handled them all the time.
