Quiet/calm breed of duck?

GQ, maybe it's because they are with runners, but my buffs seem so quiet!

I think each flock, each bird is their own unique unit.

"they play in the garden when I am with them"

They can hang out in the garden without destroying things? That's where I am most evenings in the summer.

I have a perennial garden, and they are fine in there. Some of the tender garden areas are fenced off. I have some temporary fence also. But most of the gardens are perennials, shrubs, and such.

Oh, ok. My garden is a vegetable garden, so they probably wouldn't be ok in there with me. I have a feeling when we're outside, though, they'll be heading for the pond.

What do people think of Welsh Harlequins? From what I've read, they seem to have good personalities.

I like my harlequins, but the girls can be vocal at times. I haven't had problems with ducks in the veggie garden. They don't consume everything in sight like geese, and they don't dig out great holes for dust bathing like chickens. The biggest problem will be keeping them from eating all the cherry tomatoes, which happen to be just their size.

I'm saving up to order some. I saw some at the feed store and really liked them but by the time I got hubby out there they were sold.

I have no idea Amiga, but they are just crazy, the other day they got into this massive chat with the calls and we're going back n forth... quack(buffs) quack(calls) it was this sequenced chorus. I think they just take advantage of the fact they have voices, scovies ducks can quack but usually only if goosed, yanked.. or grabbed.. and an angry broody will do it too, otherwise it's mainly trills, coos, hisses, chirps etc...
