Quiet ducks??...Need help!

I am interested in getting two small ducks for pets. What would be considered a friendly, yet quiet duck? I was told today that call drakes are considered quiet. Let me know what you think?

Mostly interested in knowing about temperment and noise level

Yes, call drakes are quiet, any drake is quiet - they don't quack. But call ducks are very tame little ducks, thats what I would get if I were you!

The suggestion of Call drakes is good. Really, if you only had one pair, I am not sure that they would be *that* noisy. I think it just depends on the hen, some are louder than others. Almost any of the other bantam duck breeds would be good. Mini Appleyards, Australian Spotteds, and even Mallards are all small and can be quite friendly. They are also usually quieter than Calls.

Any drake would be good. But if you want a pair, our runners are real quiet compared to the calls. Some of the call hens are quiet too but it is a personality between each different one. Some are really loud and others aren't.

My Dutch Hookbills are small, quiet (even the duck - I never hear anything from her), and a rare, uniquely beautiful breed to boot! When they grow up, the drakes have blue bills and the ducks have pink bills, like my lovely little pair (pictured as juveniles) :

And here they are again, a little bit more grown up, all wet after a swim in their pool:

...and Denny, all puffed up and drying off in the sun (along with all sorts of Dark Campbells and Runners - both of which are LOUD breeds, if you ask me)

These two were the friendliest ducklings I've ever had - and now, grown, they're the calmest of the breeds I keep. I was introducing the ducklings to my dog one day, and all of the Runners and Campbells started flipping out, squirming around and peeping their heads off - but the Hookbills ducked down and hid their faces under my thumb!

I've been in love with the breed ever since.

If you want quiet, whatever you do, DO NOT get Campbells - duck OR drake, they're always making a ruckus!

muscovies. they are quiet. male and female. they don't quack. my drake doesn't even have any sound lol he sou ds like a broke squeek toy. they have such cute personalities tooo!!
