our neighbors have agreed to our request on getting a few chickens as long as they don't make much noise. Houses are 70' feet apart with a 6' wood fence between.
what would be the best breed of hens only as I/we hate the sound of roosters? They would be housed in a large aviary with one pair each wood ducks, mandarins, ring teal, rouens, and Cayugas ducks. Neighbors will be getting some of the eggs as a peace token. We live inside the city limits and within a historic district but no limitations on poultry. Just want to keep the peace ya no.
Any input would be appreciated.

Curious - Do you currently have those ducks or are going to get some?

And, in my experience the quietest hens I have known are Easter Eggers (labelled as Ameraucanas or Araucanas when you get them from hatcheries) my girls are very quiet, infact when they are "noisy" before they lay an egg, it is a very quiet, quick series of mumbles and that is about it.

Others may be different though, as different hatcheries have different strains.
