Clucky-I am so glad you like it. I really love doing applique. Though I am not as good at it as I'd like to be. The eggs are a little rumply!
I worried about the background fabric, it is sort of a slightly heavier muslin than plain old unbleached.....would it be too heavy to put into a quilt do you think? If the other blocks weren't the same fabric?
Thanks for the kind words. I love how supportive everyone is of one another on this project.
Patches, I do love it and my DD does too. No, I want to frame it for my sewing room. I think it is just meant for that. I can't imagine how tiny your applique stitches are and so evenly spaced.
I know, everyone on here is great and a lot of help. This is my first forum with sewing swaps and I am having a great time. I'm sure you will too.
Clucky-It makes me happy that you and your DD like the block well enough to hang it up. That is so sweet.
The reason I asked about the background fabric is that in the swap guide lines it says not to use fabric that was too thin, so I used a heavier-than-I-normally-would-use muslin for the background....and since I am a fretter (hmmm, is that even a word?) by nature, I just had to worry about if it was TOO heavy. lol
This is the picture on the cover of an old quilting book that I tried to copy when I made it:
I forgot the tail feathers! I just noticed them when I got the book off of the shelf to take the picture.
I am sure that you are happy that I opted NOT to add the coffee rings that are on the cover of the book to the block when I made it.
All of the blocks that have been posted are so beautiful! This is so much fun.
