Quitting smoking- need help

I really don't have a clear head right now, so please bear with me. I am going on my second day now without smoking. I am quitting for the second time now. The first time, I quit for 3 years. I am an idiot for starting again. I guess, I have been smoking about a pack a day for 9 months. I don't want to smoke anymore. I am going to stop and not put myself through the withdrawls again.

The problem is, I haven't told my mom about my descison, and she is a heavy smoker. I am supposed to go over to her house tommorrow. I know I am going to have to keep myself away from her house for a while. She smokes in her house, while I don't. She doesn't ever come to my house, so this is going to make things like visiting hard.

Another thing is, I've asked my husband to go easy on me. He basically said that I did this to myself and that I deserve this.

but i did once.....stress got to me.........

peppermint hard candy for some reason...pop one when ya get the craving.........it makes it go away!

best friend, mom, and husband quit using them....
 
i hear gum helps too.

i need to quit myself probably. my dad quit on new years cuz he was hungover and didn't want to get himself a pack. we were all hungover actually. LOL. my mom and i were supposed to quit but he didn't. he's been good though. hasn't even tried once!! i'm proud of him.
 
Two days is great! You've got it made. It still isn't easy. I've been there and done that. I quit 15 years ago and last night had a dream that I had started up again. Those dreams are nightmarish to me. Keep it up.
 
Last night at 10:35 was a week sence I quit.. DH is on his second day without a smoke (he's gotta short fuse right now lol).. I know how hard it is to quit with family members that smoke (my mom, and DH both) I just find something to chew on (gum, twizzlers, etc.) or walk away and take a few deep breaths (so I dont kill anybody lol).. If your on day 2 your already half way there (think I read somewhere it takes 72hrs for it to get outta your system, although you will still want one after that, it wont be as bad).. I just kept telling myself "you've gotten this far, dont screw it up now.. I dont want to go through this again!" Good Luck, and Great Job!!
 
I did a forced cold turkey when I had my surgery, so I've been quit for two weeks now.

My DH smokes, and it's hard. He doesn't smoke in the house or near DD (neither of us did), but say if we are driving together without DD, he lights up and it makes me insane.

As for your mom's I would bring LOTS of "mouth candy". Pick up a big bag of your favorite hard candy or gum (I liked cinnamon disks), and just pop them like mad. The "stronger" the better to combat the cigarette smell. Go sugarfree if you are concerned about the sugar amount, try not to make it a habit, but to make it an emergency thing while you are going through withdrawals.

One of my biggest motivations when I've quit previously (yes, I'm a repeat offender!) is to write down exactly how much my smokes cost me each week, month and year, and carry it with me. I'd pull that out and think of the nice things I could get with that money - of course it mainly went to the house, but it's a good motivator for me!
