These things do happen on Chantix for some people.
Two people at my husband's office had mental breakdowns while on it.
The first was a woman, and I don't know all the details of her situation, but as far as I know, the woman is still in a mental hospital ( many months later ).
The second was a guy who kinda flipped out at work, left, drove home, started making wierd phone calls to my husband's fellow employees about his hands and arms being on fire while he was driving home. They got scared and called the police and paramedics to his house. When they got there they found him in his bathroom, calmly shaving, a loaded pistol on his bed he later admitted he was planning on killing himself with. He spent several weeks in hospital, but I think he's okay now. Close call though.
I'm really not trying to scare you though, I've known other people who have tried it with no crazy or suicidal side effects, my dad and another close friend being two of them....It didn't help my dad quit smoking, though.
Best of luck with the medication, and if your worried, just make sure those close to you are watching you closely for any signs of depression or other wierd symptoms.
Let us know how it works out. Quitting smoking is hard! I know, I've been quit for over two years, and I am still hopelessly addicted to the nicotine lozenges!!!! By the way, that might be something to try if you don't like the medication. I will warn you they are just as addicting as cigarettes, and unlike cigs, you can use them
anywhere!!!
