Shannon so sorry for your loss! The heat really does take a toll. I was told one time by an old friend. To pull some of the breast feathers off, on my heavily feathered girls. It helps cool them. I don't know if that is true. But I haven't lost one to heat since.

Oh no, not me. Debby lost a hen to heat recently, I guess I was posting for emotional support. I just used mine as an example that sometimes they're just not bred right and then others have more advantages to live long, happy lives. (i think that rambled a little, but you get my jist...i hope )

Thanks, how's your garden going Ken?

It's coming along; though slowly. I lost all my strawberries to birds I think. I had 3 fruit the night before, what made it worse was I was going to eat them when I got home, the robins beat me to it.
