I don't think of not wearing makeup as being lazy, rather more like a better use of my time spent doing something else. Don't get me wrong I wear make up now ocassionally, but not like I used to. We used to go camping alot. Had to have my makeup and curling iron. Yep. Don't go camping anymore, and don't wear makeup much now either. I thinks it's more that I don't feel the need to anymore either.

Not a quote, just a thought I had last night. This past weekend I went to visit a close friend of mine. We both grew up in a small suburb and I moved to the country while she moved to the city. This doesn't mean anything just setting the whole picture. So anyways, she needed to go to the store and get new makeup or something. She was asking me questions about it I didn't know the answer to for I rarely wear any myself. I'm more of a special occasion kind of person (not that I think there's anything wrong with people wearing it daily). I told her I don't really wear it (which she knew, we've known each other since pre-teens) and she goes "oh, just too lazy." Then I started coming up with excuses like it's too harsh on my skin or I don't have time. Thinking about it later it bothered me that I couldn't just say "I'm more comfortable without it." That's just who I am and always have been. My first job was on a farm...no need to look fancy there I know this is kind of a silly story, but what bothered me is I didn't feel comfortable enough with my best friend to just state who I am. I have no problem with our differences so I don't know why I felt the need to try to pretend I was someone else. Is there a rewind button?

My bff and I can see each other for who we are, not what we want to see in one another. We are both "lazy" to use that phrase.

...And I agree with the makeup issue. I buy some about every 10 years, then have to throw it away when it turns to an unusable blob. I've had a few clients and co-workers ask me about it, and I'm really upfront about it. I just hate the stuff. Don't even wear it on job interviews. I prefer to shine in other ways!!

x2 if you want my genuine self, do not expect to see me "dolled up" but sadly most still do

I haven't worn make-up since my early 20's and I'm in my 30's now. My DH prefers me unpainted, which is just as well, because I prefer to walk around without war paint on. I find make-up uncomfortable, personally. As long as you are clean, neat and well groomed, who cares what you do on top of that?

I wore so much in the first years of high school, I don't ever want to again LOL. WAR paint is right, I feel like I'm ready for battle. No thanks.

The make up issue came up this past month while DH & I were cleaning out my mother's house to sell (Mom didn't pack anything, left it up to us so we had what fun we could). In addition to the rest of the house, we emptied out her bathroom vanity and drawers. She had a large trash bag of powders, foundations, skin lotions, eye shadows, etc., plus 68 (you read that right...68) bottles of half-used nail polish. After emptying my 85-year old mother's bathroom, DH said he was so glad I wasn't into all that because it was a huge waste of time and money. Gee, I love that guy!

Actually I do use make up...it's limited to chapstick and hand lotion. My mother would be horrified.

I think it is... oh, encouraging, no...steadying -comforting- to know that we seem to have the same feelings on make up. I have been told that I would be prettier if I wore it, and instead of being insulted, I decided to feel badly for the person who could not see past image and into who a person is. To me those kinds of comments just shows their shallowness.
