Quotes and Thoughts for the Day

The glory of gardening: hands in the dirt, head in the sun, heart with nature. To nurture a garden is to feed not just on the body, but the soul.

Alfred Austin

It is only the farmer who faithfully plants seeds in the Spring, who reaps a harvest in the Autumn.

B. C. Forbes

Let us not forget that the cultivation of the earth is the most important labor of man. When tillage begins, other arts will follow. The farmers, therefore, are the founders of civilization.

Daniel Webster

Everything that slows us down and forces patience, everything that sets us back into the slow circles of nature, is a help. Gardening is an instrument of grace.

May Sarton

Hen, your quotes reminded me of this:

I love playing in the dirt too!

Wow, I have some serious catching up to do! When I left my computer this morning, I had read up on this (about 3 quotes) and now there are 91?! Holy crow!

I'm almost afraid to leave, lol. Gotta go, be back later. See if you all can post something before I get back, ok?

I love this!

I'm sorry for your loss. I like the idea of stardust, it's nice to think of the ones we lost as that.

Thanks. I think so.

Just a break in my b-day action and had to jump on. My BF & I went for a drive, one of our favorite ones for seeing eagles and coyotes. So we walked out our door and this is what was in the front of our house on the telephone pole.

I definitely feel blessed again for having seen an eagle on my birthday, two years in a row now. I walked away from a very ugly relationship into a leap of faith with not only my heart and in my passion, my birthday was two months after that decision last year when I was blessed with my birthday visitors. Then again today and numerous times in between and I can't help but feel like not only did find my soul mate, I found my way home. It has been a very difficult climb from where I was but couldn't have asked for a better way to be rewarded for taking that risk and leap of faith. It has been a very spiritual journey.

I gave Crow to my Dad for Father's Day several years ago, he loved that thing as soon as he saw it at a farmer's market. Dad passed away in '10 and now Crow's back to me. Crow always makes me see Dad's funny smile.
