I disagree with that, death is a part of life. But per the usual, let’s close our eyes and plug our ears and pretend it isn’t.

I don't think this is necessarily a good idea. Over time my parents realized there were things I couldn't handle. Perhaps I should have been older, or they might have had me read the book first. Maybe a little talk ahead of time by a parent to prepare me might have helped. I don't think we need to "baby-proof" the whole world, but we have parents for a reason. A little guidance from them can go a long way.
