Come from a farming family, my mom's parents were pig and alfalfa farmers. Farmers are not given enough credit, not only are they feeding our country they help feed the world. I totally want a farm now, we have 5 acres we are on, chickens, four dogs, bee's and gardens galore. I would like turkeys, goats and maybe a few pigs. A girl can dream.

We quit selling at the local farmer's market for the reason you gave...we work all day/all year and offer fresh produce, pesticide-free for prices more reasonable than the commercial junk at the grocery stores and people still think they can get ours for almost free. The heck with that, we just decided to grow what we can eat, share a little with the neighbors that appreciate & need it. Plus our animals love our garden produce and they never quibble over the price, lol. :thumbsup

By the time I quoted all of this I forgot what a lot of it said exactly but you're farming and food production quotes brought tears to my eyes :) In my mind there is no higher calling them producing food... For with out good food we all come crashing down, a hungry doctor isn't very useful, neither is a hungry engineer or a hungry artist. People who produce food are at the root of everybody else, in their bellies and hopefully in their hearts... My crazy neighbor wears a hat all the time (he's a farmer) his hat says "did you eat today? thank a farmer"
