That is true, you do not want to use it on plants closely related. Tomato got pulled out of the pepper family and put into it's own family, but tobacco, tomatoes and peppers all have the same great great grandpa.
If you smoke you also want to wash your hands before messing around with your tomatoes.
Again, I just use the soapy water.
I drown them or squash them.
edit to add: I am a tad ashamed of this, but I want to see them die.

My son would fill one of those soaker-blaster squirt guns with soapy water and lay waste to them.
It was high entertainment. Invest in a supersoaker for your kids and watch the fun.
