Hey, I hope everyone is having a great day. Here's what happened to me yesterday,..late afternoon. :/
I always worry about falling down out side when I am doing chicken work. If finally happened. No fun. Fell on my right hip and side. One time I can say that I am grateful for some padding!
Just starting to feel the soreness of what I hit when I went down, and I held onto the fence to try to stop the fall. Mistake. My fingers and wrist hurt..always my right side when I fall. Sure thankful nothing was broken! My wrist is pretty sore though, I sprained it last yr. now I think I did it again. Sore right knee.
I know when that cement is wet to be careful!..I was getting fresh water for the chickens and cleaned out a feeder...Anyway, it is slick because it is old..plus, I was wearing those old clogs, or what ever they call them, and they have no tread now. Slippery on wet cement. Had to call DH with my cell phone to come out and help me. Glad I had my phone on me, don't think he would have heard me yelling out. He said that Brody. our dachshund, had come into the room where he was. whining and acting worried just before his phone rang. He had been watching me outside. Smart little dog.
Doing ok today. My knee and wrist being the most painful. Thank Heavens I didn't break anything. I am thanking the Lord every time I think about it.
Very busy weekend! We had a motorcycle group come in whom we had two cookouts with. GREAT people. They said they have never experienced a motel as good as ours. They said our family worked together so well and loved how much we love people. They loved the s'mores, chickens and location. They said when they come back to Colorado, they will never stay anywhere else but here!
We are $600 away from having our best June in 8 years!e
Love all of these. The family is so important. Family life style, what are we teaching our children? Through our actions? Through our conversation? Through our service? Through our time spent with them?Bob Keeshan (Captain Kangaroo)
Parents are the ultimate role models for children. Every word, movement and action has an effect. No other person or outside force has a greater influence on a child than the parent.
The best teacher is an entertainer.
It is my contention that most people are not mugged every day, that most people in this world do not encounter violence every day. I think we prepare people for violence, and I think it just as important that we prepare people for the definition of being gentle. … for so many years gentle has been equated with weakness but it requires more strength to be gentle. So it's the every day encounters of life that I think we prepare children for and prepare them to be good to other people and to consider other people.
Generosity has built America. When we fail to invest in children, we have to pay the cost.
One of the big secrets of finding time is not to watch television.
I enjoy meeting not only contemporary children, but yesterday's children as well. It's nice to talk about the experiences we shared, they tell me, 'You were a good friend.' That's the warmest part.
Children don't drop out of high school when they are 16, they do so in the first grade and wait 10 years to make it official.
Back in the old days, when I was a child, we sat around the family table at dinner time and exchanged our daily experiences.... It wasn't very organized, but everyone was recognized and all the news that had to be told was told by each family member. We listened to each other and the interest was not put on; it was real. … A child needs to be listened to and talked to at 3 and 4 and 5 years of age … Parents should not wait for the sophisticated conversation of a teenager.
Play is the work of children. It's very serious stuff.
