Quotes and Thoughts for the Day

Ann Landers

Nobody gets to live life backward. Look ahead, that is where your future lies.

Love is friendship that has caught fire. It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses.

Opportunities are usually disguised as hard work, so most people don't recognize them.

Know yourself. Don't accept your dog's admiration as conclusive evidence that you are wonderful.

Class never tries to build itself up by tearing others down. Class is already up and need not strive to look better by making others look worse.

The trouble with talking too fast is you may say something you haven't thought of yet.

If you have love in your life, it can make up for a great many things that are missing. If you don't have love in your life, no matter what else there is, it's not enough.

Expect trouble as an inevitable part of life and repeat to yourself, the most comforting words of all; this, too, shall pass.

Maturity: Be able to stick with a job until it is finished. Be able to bear an injustice without having to get even. Be able to carry money without spending it. Do your duty without being supervised.

The Lord gave us two ends - one to sit on and the other to think with. Success depends on which one we use the most.

Know when to tune out, if you listen to too much advice you may wind up making other peoples mistakes.

Too many people today know the price of everything and the value of nothing.

Hello All,

Just chiming in, I know I haven't posted much lately on this thread, but I enjoy reading all of the qoutes as often as possible. Sometimes you all post the exact words I needed for the day, and I appriciate that. This is a wonderful thread, if only it wasn't such a fast mover, lol, It's a full time job to catch up with you guys!

I love the idea of penguin day, :love

And @NickyKnack those kittens are adorable.

Hi WB..I am doing really well lately.  Been back to the dr. got some answers as to what that ICU stay was all about, and the next procedure done.  At least they don't think it was my heart.   I'll go with that.  I am going to go get a whatchyamacallit...lol..to put on to test me at nights now.  While I was in the hospital I was setting off the alarm all night, telling me to take a deep breath.  My sats are way low at night.  I may be up for an oxygen machine for the night.  They say it really helps if you are needing it.  Anyway, I can do this sleep test at home.  I was so glad to hear that.  Hopefully, it will cost less that at the hospital like they do sometimes.

Hope you are well and enjoying your garden goodies.   My chard is really taking off finally.  And, my tomato plants..well....slowly but surely.  My sunflower plants are getting up there.  The wild ones in the back..I have one bloomed.  I love even the wild ones.  :)

Oh, Cynthia. I hope they figure out how beat to help you. So glad it's not your heart. Maybe it's just sleep apnea. Good luck! :hugs

When we experience hardships, we usually wonder why God allows these painful situations to come our way. It just doesn't seem to fit with His role as our loving heavenly Father. We struggle to reconcile our suffering with His love for us and His power to prevent or stop it. In order to understand what's going on, we need to consider the possible sources of adversity.

A Fallen World: When sin entered the world, suffering came with it. God could have protected us from these harmful effects by making us like puppets who could not choose sin, but that would mean we'd also be unable to choose to love Him, because love must be voluntary.

Our Own Doing: Sometimes we get ourselves into trouble with our foolish or sinful choices. If the Lord stepped in and rescued us from every negative consequence, we'd never grow into mature believers.

God's Sovereignty: Ultimately, the Lord is in charge of all adversity that comes our way. To deny His involvement contradicts His power and sovereignty over creation.

For us to accept that God allows--or even sends--afflictions, we must see adversity from His perspective. Is your focus on the pain of your experience or on the Lord and His faithfulness? As believers, we're assured that no adversity comes our way unless He can use it to achieve His good purposes.

So true, we would not know love, or sadness, without Adam and Eve having eaten of the forbidden fruit. We wouldn't know good, from bad. We wouldn't have the freedom to choose. Satan would have loved having us as puppets. We couldn't have proved ourselves to be worthy to live in the Presence of our Heavenly Father again without .. first, our body..so we could come here and prove our love for Him. To be servants unto Him. To do good in this world for Him. Even through our trials. To show or Faith in Him through these trials. To know, that His Will is being done for us in so many different ways. We pray for things to happen...His Will, not ours. I can be happy with that. :)
